What is the Rhodes Scholarship? More Than Just a Free Degree
The Rhodes Scholarship is a postgraduate award for exceptional young people from around the world to study at the University of Oxford. The vision is simple: identify young leaders, give them a transformative educational experience, and encourage them to use their talents to solve humanity's challenges. For a digital nomad or online entrepreneur, this translates into an incredible opportunity to formalize your expertise, build an elite global network, and elevate your trajectory from a solo operator to a global thought leader.
The Ultimate 'Fully-Funded' Package: What's Included?
When we say fully funded, we mean it. The Rhodes Trust understands that to focus on your studies and personal development, financial stress must be removed from the equation. This is the ultimate 'nomad setup' for academia, where all the logistics are handled for you. Here’s a breakdown of what the scholarship covers:
All University of Oxford Fees: Your tuition and college fees are completely covered.
Generous Living Stipend: You receive an annual stipend of approximately £19,000 (about £1,600 per month) to cover your living expenses, including accommodation. This allows for a comfortable lifestyle in Oxford.
Total Travel Coverage: Two economy class flights – one to get to Oxford and one to fly home at the end of your degree.
Visa & Healthcare Paid: The scholarship covers the fee for your Tier 4 student visa and the associated International Health Surcharge (IHS), which grants you access to the UK's National Health Service (NHS). No more worrying about travel insurance or visa costs.
Settling-In Allowance: A one-time grant upon arrival to help you get established in your new home.
Application Fee Covered: Even the cost to apply to the University of Oxford is covered.
Second-Year Support: For scholars continuing their studies, the scholarship assists with visa renewal and further IHS applications.
The scholarship is typically for two years, but can be extended for a third year with full support if you are pursuing a DPhil (PhD).
